The 3rd Annual Batavia Kill Stream Celebration was held on August 1, 2009. Visitors from the tri-state region flocked to the event held at Country Suite Bed and Breakfast in Ashland, NY. It was a full day of FREE family fun, entertainment, and education. Don’t miss this year’s Celebration!

Mutual Strangers: Henry Hudson and the River that Discovered Him tells the story of Henry Hudson’s world-changing voyage from many points of view. A must see during this 400 year Anniversary commemorating Hudson’s voyage!

Accompany Jenn Grieser, NYC Department of Environmental Protection & Joel DuBois, Greene County Soil and Water, for a guided walk along the Batavia Kill & learn about a section of stream restored using natural channel design.

What’s in the Water? (Stream Side)
Catch, study, & learn about aquatic life in our streams and what species are indicators of water quality.   Ben Murdock, Catskill Center for Conservation & Development.

Plant & Tree Identification Walks (Meet at Gazebo)
Join us in a leisurely walk around the grounds and learn about various plant and tree species along the stream and in a reconstructed wetland.

Simulated Water Table
Join Greene County Soil & Water Conservation District to learn about the defined movement and growth of our waterways through a realistic model of a real-life water table.  Also witness simulated effects that human activities have on our local streams and waterways.

Fly Fishing & Casting Demonstrations (Columbia-Greene Chapter Trout Unlimited Table)
Learn how to cast a fly fishing pole with Trout Unlimited.  Also don’t forget to stop by their exhibit table to learn how to tie a fly!!

Learn the physics behind throwing boomerangs, fun for all ages!
