2019 Hudson Valley Regional Envirothon
2019 Hudson Valley Regional Envirothon Competition
The Hudson Valley Regional Envirothon is an annual springtime hands-on environmental education competition for students from Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties.
Students from the various counties enter as five-member teams and work together in hopes of moving on to the state competition. The teams compete in five different environmental categories: soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife, and a current environmental issue that is updated each year.
The primary goal of the Envirothon is to learn about the natural environment we live in so as to become stewards of the land. In preparation for the event, students develop research skills, practice team building, and gain an appreciation for consensus decision-making.
There is no cost to the students, parents, or schools to participate in the Envirothon. The winning team from each county moves on to compete in the New York State Envirothon.
The deadline to register for the 2019 Hudson Valley Regional Envirothon is Friday, March 8th. For more information about the Hudson Valley Regional Envirothon, click here. For Greene County teams interested in competing, please contact Samantha at
